Snackle Box

A little of everything, in one little box. Snackle Box was my very first product at Melii, where I became the company’s first in-house industrial designer. Working with co-founders Melissa Buck and Melissa Rosen, I had my hands in almost all of it—from concept and CAD to prototypes, mechanisms and revisions with the factory.

01 / Around 2022 / joining Melii

My first product at Melii

I joined Melii around 2022 as the company’s very first in-house industrial designer. Snackle Box was my first product there, working under the two Melissas: co-founders Melissa Buck and Melissa Rosen.

Being the only industrial designer meant following the object through almost every part of its development: shaping the concept, building the CAD, working on prototypes and mechanisms, then making revisions with the factory. One small box; quite a few different hats.

STORY SLOT: A sketch, a stubborn prototype, or the small detail that took more work than it looks.

02 / 2022 / product design

A place for the extra-long cracker

The idea is easy to read: a tackle-box layout, made for snacks. Twelve compartments give the little things their own space. Three removable dividers make room when the snack doesn’t quite fit the grid. Berries here, crackers there; a little freedom to rearrange.

The regular box has a translucent lid and a snap closure. Melii lists 114 ml per compartment, about 1.37 litres in total, and top-rack dishwasher cleaning. It’s intended for ages three and up.

Out of CAD, into the world

I worked on Snackle Box in 2022. Melii’s online product record carries a July 26, 2023 publication date—a later marker in the box’s public story.

By November 18, the regular Snackle Box was appearing in 24/7 Moms’ holiday-travel gift bundle. Their feature picked up on the removable dividers and the mix of snacks you could pack. A very everyday destination for all that design work: something to eat on the way.

04 / 2024 / in gift guides and everyday use

Picnics, road trips… even Halloween

The box kept turning up in different settings. A Global Lifestyle included it in its Mother’s Day 2024 guide as a way to take a small charcuterie spread along. The Everymom featured Melii in June, in its guide to snackle boxes for family life and travel.

In September, PureWow’s Candace Davison recommended the Melii box for its removable dividers, cleaning and lid. Then, in October, she used it for a Halloween snack mix on Life Between Weekends. Same little compartments, a completely different outing.

05 / 2025–2026 / more of the public story

And the little box kept going

In July 2025, Salon covered the wider Snackle Box family, including Melii’s Mini and XL versions. In October 2026, Parade covered Mini and regular boxes at Aldi, and Allrecipes featured the return of the regular 12-compartment box.

This page follows my work on the regular box. There’s more of the family story to sort through; the versions I worked on beyond this one are still MISSING from the record.

Looking back

The bit only I can tell

STORY SLOT: The prototype, the tiny adjustment, or the first time I spotted one out in the world. A little room for my own memory, next.
